Choosing where to study can be difficult, but there’s a new program that could be great for French-speaking students. The Francophone Minority Communities Student Pilot (FMCSP) offers a chance for citizens of certain countries to study in French-speaking communities in Canada and possibly get permanent residency after graduating.

Who Can Apply for the FMCSP?
To be eligible for the FMCSP, you must:
1. Be a citizen of one of the eligible countries, which include several countries in Africa, the Middle East, and the Americas that are members of the Organisation internationale de la Francophonie.
2. Have an acceptance letter from a participating school that says you’re applying under the FMCSP.
3. Show that your French skills in speaking, listening, reading and writing are at level 5 or higher on the Canadian Language Benchmark scale.
4. Have enough money to pay for your tuition fees and living costs for yourself and any family members coming with you to Canada.
5. Be living outside of Canada when you apply.
What Does the FMCSP Offer?
As part of the FMCSP, you’ll get:
1. Help settling and adjusting to life in your French-speaking community during your studies.
2. The chance to apply for permanent residency in Canada (outside of Quebec) after you graduate with an eligible degree or diploma.
Eligible Study Programs and Participating Institutions
Your study program must:
– Be at the post-secondary level
– Be full-time
– Last 2 years or more
– Lead to a degree or diploma
– Have French as the main language of instruction (over 50% of classes)

Financial Requirements and Support
The amount of money you need depends on the size of the community where your school’s main campus is located. It ranges from CAD$14,206 for a single person in a rural area to CAD$54,611 for a family of 7 in a larger community (not including tuition fees).
You may also be able to bring your spouse or partner and any children, and they could get visitor visas, study permits, or work permits.
