For comparison within this batch: Ireland&#8217;s Critical Skills permit asks EUR 40,904 with a relevant degree, Germany&#8217;s EU Blue Card EUR 50,700, and Austria&#8217;s EUR 55,678.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Published sources disagree about which figure belongs to which scheme, so do one thing before you rely on either: <strong>ask the employer which initiative they are applying under<\/strong>, and confirm the current threshold for it. The international employment base is in <strong>iGaming, financial services, aviation services, technology and maritime<\/strong>, and English is an official language, so there is no separate language requirement to clear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That last point is doing more work than it appears to. Language is the gate in the UK at B2, in Japan at N4, and in Germany at A1 for settlement. Malta asks for none of it, which for an English-speaking applicant removes months from the whole process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The trade-offs are real: a small labour market, so a narrow set of employers, and a high cost of living relative to the salaries at the lower threshold. Malta suits someone targeting one of those sectors rather than someone looking generally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"What_to_do\"><\/span><strong>What to do<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Check your ISCO group.<\/strong> Groups 1 to 3 are the gate for the KEI, and it is decided by the role rather than the title.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Ask which initiative the employer is using<\/strong>, KEI or SEI, and confirm the salary threshold for it.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Gather the experience evidence<\/strong> if you are relying on three years rather than a qualification.
